1942: Seminary student Williams Coons surveys the area, revealing interest in starting a new church; Beechwood Church is born with 21 families.
1944: Purchased site at 269 Douglas Avenue for $1,650!
1947: Dedicated colonial-style building. Church had grown to nearly 100 families.
1972: A significant building addition was completed.
1985: Purchased existing property at 895 Ottawa Beach Road for $300,000.
1987: First outdoor worship service held … nearly 200 people in attendance.
1989: Groundbreaking for the first phase of the current facility.
1990: April 8, Palm Sunday - the first service in our new facility was held with 675 people in attendance.
1995: Dedicated new educational wing.
1998: Bell Tower was constructed and the bell from the original church steeple was hung.
2001: New sanctuary completed & dedicated
2004: Launched ‘The Bridge’ service
2007: Church plant ‘Iglesia Alas de Aguila’ held first worship services
Beechwood Church continues to grow with the expanding community on the north side of Holland. Currently, there are around 500 families and over 1,000 members who are part of the Beechwood family.
